This morning (Sept 14, 2012), an incident began when the boyfriend of a 31 year old female refused to leave her residence, and proceeded to sexually assault her and prevent her from leaving the house for a period of time.
When he eventually let her leave just before 2:30 a.m., she ran to her neighbour in the 5200 block of 43 Street to report the incident.
When Northern Rockies RCMP went to find and arrest the boyfriend at a residence in the 5100 block of 44 Street, he refused to answer the door, and could be seen periodically peering out of the window at police. Two other men were seen leaving the residence, who, once detained, told RCMP the man was still inside with a number of firearms and ammunition. A safety perimeter was put up around the house while police continued to try to communicate with the man.
Shortly before 8 a.m. they placed a cell phone on the house's doorstep, and used a loud hailer to ask him to come out and pick it up. He complied by answering the cops' call, and after over an hour and a half of non-stop conversations and negotiations with police, he surrendered. He exited the house and was taken into custody without incident.
Upon further investigation, a shotgun, three rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were found inside the residence. RCMP have recommended charges of sexual assault, forcible confinement and two charges of breach of recognizance against the 45 year old. (energeticcity.ca)r((
